Influenza is a
virus that infects the respiratory system. It can cause fever,
cough, sore throat, headache, chills, muscle aches, and fatigue.
Young children are more likely than adults to be hospitalized with
infections caused by influenza and young children commonly transmit
influenza virus to parents and grandparents. The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending that all
persons 6 months of age and older get vaccinated against the seasonal flu.
On average 5-20% of Americans get the
flu every year, with more than 200,000 being hospitalized (including 20,000
children ) and about 36,000 dying from flu complications. The best way to
prevent the flu is getting a flu vaccine every year
All of our community flu clinics are finished for the year but it is not
too late to get your flu vaccination for this season.
