Hearing & Vision Clinic Schedule for 2008-2009

The Ohio
Department of Health administers a specialty hearing clinic in
cooperation with the Henry County Health Department to children 0-21
years of age. This hearing clinic is offered 9 times per year and
provides ear, nose, and throat examinations, a hearing test, and
speech/language screening at no charge to the family. The
staff includes a board-certified otologist, audiologist,
speech/language pathologists and a public health nurse. After the
examination, the staff makes recommendations that may include tests,
medication, surgery, therapy or observation. A local public health
nurse provide follow-up. These clinics are available for children
regardless of parents’ income. Funding is through the Ohio
Department of Health’s Bureau of Child and Family Health Services.
Criteria to be seen in this clinic include:

Suspected of
having a speech/language or hearing problem

Referred by
a physician, public health nurse or school nurse

Failure on a
hearing screening

Observable
ear defect
-
Discharge
from the ear
-
Ear pain or
soreness
-
Inability to
be tested
